We had reported previously that a sequel to 'Mr. India', titled 'Mr. India2′ is being planned. Now, filmmaker Boney Kapoor has confirmed the news, clarifying that the movie will be a sequel and not a remake of the 1987 hit Mr. India. He also verifies that Anil Kapoor and Sridevi will be a part of the movie. However, there will be no 'Mogambo', but a new villain in the movie.
"Obviously, there won't be a Mogambo unless we are remaking the same movie. As of now, we don't have plans of remaking the same film. We are working on a sequel. If there is a sequel, Mogambo won't be there, there would be a new villain," Kapoor told.
Buzz had it that Salman Khan was being considered for the villain's role. However, Boney Kapoor brushes off the rumors.
Kapoor told, "If I had my way, I would plan every film with Salman Khan. But this is not in my hands; it will be according to the script."
Sridevi and Anil Kapoor were the lead stars in the original film too.
"Well, of course she (Sridevi) will be a part of 'Mr. India2′ for sure. We are yet to finalize a script. Along with Anil, she will be part of it," Boney Kapoor told.
"My journey with her began with 'Mr. India', so obviously the journey has to continue and how can it continue without her, especially when it's 'Mr. India'?" he added.
Presently Kapoor is focusing on No Entry Mein Entry.
"But before I get down to 'Mr. India', we have just finished the script for 'No Entry Mein Entry'."
